Diabetes is a condition that affects a portion of the population and diabetics constantly need to monitor their blood sugar levels in order to maintain the balance between their insulin and their blood sugar. This can affect teen to young adult diabetics socially, as this time of their life revolves around popularity, self image and being able to meet more people. Imagine a scenario of a diabetic in his/her teens socialising with a bunch of new friends. Wouldn’t it be interruptive to suddenly pull out a big glucometer kit and also pricking yourself with a bland old fashion two-handed needle? This would be a definite yes and would absolutely spoil the mood. Tuck’n’Prick brings diabetes into the bright side, a more sleek, appealing pricker with an integrated air tight compartment for blood testing strips, making this device a convenient space saving solution to an ordinary pricker. Instead of letting diabetes kill your conversations, use this youthful device to break the ice and be proud and confident about your condition.
Great idea Julian. The detail you went into for your product was amazing, especially with the paint job, excellent finish. The name of your product is also very catchy and most likely will attract the attention of all diabetics if it were on the market. Having a sickness like this may enlighten someone to have a product on them that is so easy to use like this.
ReplyDeleteI think your model achieved a great level of realism. I liked the little grip details on the buttons. Plus I think the ergonomics were all on the mark. The only part I didn't get was the choice of green for that one button, but maybe it signifies something?
ReplyDeleteThis is a really smart innovation as it greatly helps people with diabetes both physically and emotionally. The simple organic shape of it still maintains a smart and medical look but that's a plus as it wants to appeal to both younger and older patients that are suffering from the disease. The finish of the model was really nice and clean. Only thing I would say is maybe it can be a tad smaller and compact, not that it isn't already but if it was smaller it could be more easier to fit into the patient's pockets.
ReplyDeleteThe model construction and finish looks really good. I could easily see it on the market. The colour combinations you used are good aswell because its easy to distinguish one from the other. The one handed idea is also very well thought out and I think will be very successful. When holding the product is felt very comfortable and nice. Overall great design.
ReplyDeleteI especially admire the finish you managed to achieve with your final model.
ReplyDeleteI can see this product being used in the market of today and like how you have shown it being used in context.
It is palm-sized and compact, making it a handy tool that can be easily carried around and pulled out when needed.

ReplyDeleteMy dad has Diabetes and he has the blood sugar level check kit as well. It looks scary because you poke a finger to get blood, but your slim and colourful design will soften the image of people who have diabetes. Nice finish with the model and i think i will appeal to everyone.
